Wisconsin Badgers
MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin QB Billy Edwards appears to have avoided major ligament damage in his knee after he was carted off the field in the first half of the Badgers’ 17-0 win over Miami (OH) Thursday.
ESPN Senior Writer Pete Thamel says the Graduate Student had a clean MRI on Friday and is officially listed as “week-to-week” with a sprained knee, according to a source within the program.
Edwards left Thursday’s game in the second quarter with a non-contact injury and did not return. He went 6-13 for 68 yards before the injury, giving way to Sophomore Danny O’Neil, who guided the team to a pair of second-half touchdowns, including a three-yard toss to Vinny Anthony II in the third quarter. O’Neil then called his own number in the fourth for a one-yard score, which capped a three-play, two-yard drive.
No timetable for Edwards’ return has been established. Wisconsin hosts Middle Tennessee State University next Saturday, September 6th, before closing non-conference play with a road trip to SEC powerhouse Alabama on September 13th.
