ST. LOUIS, MO (WSAU) — Wisconsin’s Festival Foods has been acquired by Missouri-based New Schnuck Family Holding Company, the parent company of Schnuck Markets, according to a news release.
The transaction involves the New Schnuck Family Holding Company purchasing 100% of the shares of Festival, including the shares held by CEO Mark Skogen and those held by the company’s employee stock ownership program.
Festival has 51 stores across Wisconsin, including Stevens Point and Wausau. The company also runs Express Market by Festival Foods in Weston.
Upon completion of the purchase, Schnucks, Skogen’s Festival Foods, and Hometown Grocers, Inc. will maintain their existing corporate headquarters and operate as separate, sister companies with shared support by the 1939 Group. The 1939 Group and Schnucks are based in St. Louis, Missouri, and Skogen’s Festival Foods’ and Hometown Grocers’ offices are located in Onalaska and Green Bay, Wisconsin. The closing is anticipated to be completed later in October, subject to customary review and regulatory approval.
