WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman who made his home in Wausau following his playing days has died, according to multiple reports.
Bill Ferrario was found dead in his home this week at the age of 47. The Scranton, PA native played football at Wisconsin in the late 90s before being drafted by the Packers in 2001.
He spent two seasons in Green Bay before ending his career in Carolina and Washington. He was out of the league by 2005.
During his time with the Badgers, Ferrario is credited with paving the way for Running Backs Ron Dayne and Michael Bennet on teams that appeared in the 1999 and 2000 Rose Bowl Games.
No cause of death has been revealed.
His life away from football was not always smooth. In 2024, he was sentenced to 18 months of probation for domestic abuse stemming from incidents that occurred at his home the year prior. He and his wife divorced before the sentence was handed down.
He is survived by two children, including a daughter who recently graduated from D.C. Everest High School in May.
Several Badger coaches and former players memorialized Ferrario on social media, including current Assistant OL Coach Casey Rabach.
