STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — An abandoned vehicle near the Fountain Lake Boat Landing in the Portage County Town of Belmont has led to a death investigation.
Witnesses alerted officers to the vehicle at about 11:15 AM. It was discovered that it was the subject of a well-being check issued in another county.
While investigating, officers learned that a male body was located along a nearby trail.
No further information, including the name and age of the deceased man, is being released.
Officers are encouraging anyone in a mental health crisis to contact law enforcement or a mental health professional immediately.
