ST. LOUIS, MO (WSAU) — Festival Foods is officially under new ownership.
Schnuck Markets has acquired the Wisconsin grocer for an undisclosed price, with the transaction closing this week.
The two brands now fall under the umbrella of 1939 Group, comprising more than 160 stores in Wisconsin and Missouri.
Each story will retain its branding, and no employees were affected by the transaction.
Festival operates 42 stores in Wisconsin, including two in the Wausau area. The brand also has nine Hometown Grocers stores, which were also included in the sale.
The Festival sale isn’t the only transaction involving a Wausau-area grocery store in the last few weeks. Crossroads County Market was acquired by Des Moines, IA-based Hy-Vee earlier this month and will be closed for a week in November for rebranding. Hy-Vee plans to open the store under its banner just in time for Thanksgiving. All current employees will be offered positions at the store.
