WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Marathon County has named a new top attorney.
Brian Desmond has been named Corporation Counsel for the county, according to a press release. He takes over for Michael Purner, who resigned this summer.
“I am honored to join Marathon County as its Corporation Counsel,” shared Desmond. “I look forward to building strong relationships with county departments, elected officials, and staff, and contributing to the important work happening across the organization.”
Desmond was appointed to the position by Administrator Lance Leonhard. His first day was October 20th.
He is no stranger to county government. Most recently, he served as Corporation Counsel for Sauk County for four and a half years. Prior to that, he spent 17 years with the Oneida County Corporation Counsel’s Office, including 15 years as Corporation Counsel.
