Northwoods League
SAVAGE, MN and GRAND FORKS, ND (WSAU) — The Northwoods League will once again operate a travel-only team in the Great Plains Division.
League officials have announced that the Minnesota Mud Puppies will return in 2026, playing 36 games against 18 different Northwoods League clubs. The team will train at the MASH Training Center in Savage, a southern suburb of the Twin Cities.
The team is accepting applications from college baseball players, especially those with ties to the Twin Cities.
The Northwoods League currently has 25 permanent baseball clubs with the addition of the Richmond (IN) Flying Mummies.
Meanwhile, the softball club in Grand Forks will be known as the “Grand Forks Spitfires,” paying tribute to the city’s connection to aviation and
“The goal in choosing our name was to find something our fans would be proud to cheer for in the stands and wear on their shirts,” Sptifires General Manager Roberto Lemus shared in a press release. “The ‘Spitfires’ name captures the strength, energy, and forward momentum we’ll bring to the field, and it also reflects the spirit of the people here in Grand Forks.”
Schedules for both the softball and baseball circuits will be released later this winter.
