WAUTOMA, Wis. (WSAU – WAOW) – According to WAOW TV, Waushara County District Attorney Matthew Leusink has announced there will be no criminal charges for law enforcement involved in the death of Timothy Lehman on October 16, 2025.
The incident happened during a domestic violence call near State Road 73 and County Road O, in the Township of Wautoma.
Authorities said Lehman, 51, fired at Deputy Alex Midthun, who returned fire. Lehman then barricaded himself inside his home, prompting a tactical response. Officers reported hearing gunshots before finding Lehman deceased inside.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s preliminary findings indicated that officer gunfire likely hit Lehman, contradicting initial reports that suggested he died from self-inflicted wounds. No officers were injured in the incident. For more details, investigative files and digital records are available on the Wisconsin DOJ website.
