New Beginnings for Refugees of Wausau, WI
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – New Beginnings For Refugees, Inc. has received a grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation to boost its Empowerment Program. This funding will help equip refugees with vital skills for the workforce and daily life.
The Empowerment Program provides a week of workshops focusing on workplace safety, financial literacy, and basic life skills. Participants also learn teamwork, problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and job interview skills.
“We are honored to partner with the Green Bay Packers Foundation in this important mission,” said Yee Leng Xiong, executive director of New Beginnings For Refugees, Inc. “This grant will allow us to enhance our Empowerment Program.”
The Green Bay Packers Foundation awarded $1.5 million in grants to 398 organizations in Wisconsin this year. Since 1986, it has distributed more than $25.7 million to local communities.
