GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — The Green Bay Packers have claimed former Dallas Cowboys Cornerback Trevon Diggs off waivers, multiple sources have reported.
The move comes after a messy separation between the Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, and Dallas, a conflict often centered on how Diggs would rehab from injury. ESPN reports that he preferred to rehab under the care of his own doctors, and not the team’s medical staff.
He also skipped the team’s flight to Dallas following a Christmas Day win over Washington. Diggs, a Maryland native, had asked to stay back to be with family for the holiday, but was told no. He chose to skip the flight and return to Dallas on his own anyway.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Diggs was cut due to a variety of factors.
Diggs is eligible to play in Sunday’s game against Minnesota and will be owed $472,000 in base salary plus $58,823 if he is part of the active roster. A former first-team All-Pro selection, he’s struggled to regain that form in recent seasons.
Next-Gen stats show opposing QBs have a perfect 158.3 passer rating on 20 targets against him in 2025. He has also failed to record an interception or pass breakup (PBU) in the last eight games.
The team also announced the signing of S Johnathan Baldwin and QB Clayton Tune from the practice squad to the active roster.
In corresponding moves, G Karsen Barnhart, CB Tyron Herring, and QB Desmond Ridder were signed to the practice squad. The team also placed S Zayne Anderson and CB Nate Hobbs on injured reserve.
Those transactions were announced on Wednesday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
