GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Dairy Business Association honored Chuck Ripp of Ripp’s Dairy Valley this evening with the association’s Advocate of the Year award for his contributions to Wisconsin’s dairy community. The award, sponsored by Vita Plus Corporation, was presented during DBA’s Dairy Strong conference at the KI Convention Center.
This annual award honors farmers who excel in managing their farms while actively engaging with their local communities and taking on agricultural leadership roles.
“Advancements in dairy happen when passionate advocates and committed partners work together,” Nick Uglow of Vita Plus said. “We’re honored to help recognize Chuck Ripp with this award for his leadership and contributions to dairy advocacy.”
“I’ve been a part of DBA since the beginning, and I always try to be involved and help out where I can,” Ripp said. “It’s great to be part of this organization and advocate for this industry that I love.”
Ripp and his brothers, Troy and Gary, farm together in Dane, Wis. Ripp has been farming his entire life and leads by example, encouraging other farmers to speak up and share their stories with lawmakers. He is passionate about using sustainable farming practices and has been actively involved in Yahara Pride Farms, a farmer-led watershed conservation group, since its inception over 10 years ago.
“Chuck is the person you can count on,” Chad Zuleger, DBA Executive Director, said. “Whether it’s a last-minute request to join a meeting, speak to legislators or offer insight on a complex issue, Chuck is there. Chuck’s advocacy efforts help ensures the next generation has opportunities and a strong industry to inherit.”
Through his dedication and consistency, Ripp’s commitment to representing the dairy community is clear through the connections he’s made with lawmakers and his desire to make sure policymakers are aware of the difficulties farmers face today.
“Chuck’s impact goes far beyond his own farm,” Zuleger said. “He has become one of DBA’s most reliable and influential advocates, speaking thoughtfully and helping others understand what dairy farmers need to succeed. His leadership sets an example for fellow farmers, and his dedication to both his family’s long-standing farm in northern Dane County and the broader southern Wisconsin dairy community reflects the values that make this industry strong. This award recognizes not just what Chuck has done this year, but the steady commitment he has shown over many years.”
More than 400 farmers and allied professionals, attended Dairy Strong. The conference featured presentations from leaders in dairy policy, farm management and sustainability.
