ADDIS ABABA, Feb 3 (Reuters) – Ethiopia’s economy is forecast to expand 10.2% in 2025-26, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on Tuesday, higher than the finance ministry’s projection of 8.9% given in June.
“Based on a review of the growth performance over the past six months of the current fiscal year, the plan has been revised to project that Ethiopia will record 10.2% growth by the end of the year,” Abiy told lawmakers.
The fiscal year runs from July 8, 2025, to July 7, 2026.
The East African nation, which is restructuring its external debt, is implementing far-reaching economic reforms backed by an International Monetary Fund loan programme.
