WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Marathon County has issued a request for proposals for the redevelopment of the UWSP Wausau campus.
Officials are looking to transfer ownership of seven buildings by the end of the year, with the goal of redeveloping the campus in a way that will “serve the community in meaningful ways,” according to Deputy County Administrator of Public Works and Capital Projects Chris Holman.
Buildings included in the RFP are:
Main Campus Building – 518 S. 7th Avenue, Wausau
Center for Civic Engagement – 625 Stewart Avenue, Wausau
Fieldhouse – 608 S. 7th Avenue, Wausau
Marathon Hall – 615 Garfield Avenue, Wausau
(New) East Arts Building – Building A, 620 S. 7th Avenue, Wausau
(Old) West Arts Building – Building A, 620 S. 7th Avenue, Wausau
Central Heating Plant – 630 S. 7th Avenue, Wausau
Interested developers are welcome to a community meet-and-greet event at Marathon County’s Lake View Conference Center, 1000 Lake View Drive (Enter Door 31), on Thursday, February 19th. Those who submit a proposal must participate in a mandatory campus walkthrough on March 3, 2026.
The campus is closing at the end of the current academic year. Classes and faculty will move to the NTC campus in Wausau this summer.
