WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Marathon County snowmobile enthusiasts can look forward to some trails reopening as of Sunday.
Parts of the Mountain Bay Trail will be accessible in Zones 1 and 2. In Zone 1, the Mountain Bay Trail will open eastward from County Highway J into Shawano County. In Zone 2, the trail will open eastward from Ross Avenue, with access down to Weston Avenue for fuel.
However, no other trails or connections will open in Marathon County at this time. Park and Rides are encouraged for those using the trails, although Highland Church is not an official Park and Ride location.
ATVs are prohibited on the Mountain Bay Trail at all times.
Zones 3 through 6 will remain closed. Marathon County Parks, Recreation and Forestry urges riders to exercise caution and remain on open trails. Off-trail riding is considered trespassing and could lead to trail closures or citations.
