MERRILL, WI (WSAU-WXPR) — The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to leave room for working snowplows.
The DOT says there have been more than a dozen incidents involving passenger vehicles and snowplows this winter, the most recent occurring in the Lincoln County Town of Skanawan.
WXPR Radio in Rhinelander reports that a car driven by a 56-year-old Merrill man rear-ended a plow as it was clearing the northbound lanes of US 51 on Friday.
The driver and a passenger reported minor injuries. The plow driver reported back pain.
State law requires drivers to maintain a minimum distance of 200 feet from a working snowplow.
