WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Milwaukee-area man accused of attempting to meet a teenage girl for sex has entered a not guilty plea to multiple felony counts.
Christopher Bauer of West Bend is accused of traveling to Wausau to meet a teenage girl he had met on a social media messenger app. That girl was actually an undercover officer posing as a teen. The 47-year-old’s plans reportedly included having sex with the girl and taking drugs.
The two exchanged photos and messages through Kik before planning to meet in Wausau. He was arrested in November, with investigators finding drugs, including mushrooms and LSD, in his vehicle. A search of his phone also turned up the explicit messages.
Charges against him include using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, child enticement, and attempted child sexual assault. He also faces drug-related charges.
He was jailed on a $15,000 cash bond, which was posted in November. He then missed a court date in December, but turned up two days later, according to court records. He has since reposted the bond with several conditions, including no contact with minors and absolute sobriety from all controlled substances unless prescribed.
Further court action is scheduled for May 5th. He faces up to 40 years in prison on the most serious charges, and more than 100 years on all counts combined.
