STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Portage County Sheriff Mike Lucas has announced additional OWI enforcement for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
“If you plan to celebrate, law enforcement would encourage you to identify a designated driver or have a plan for a safe ride home. If you suspect a driver is impaired, call 911 and provide as much detail as possible on the driver, vehicle, location, and direction of travel,” said Lucas in a press release.
Lucas adds that preventing OWI crashes “requires commitment from everyone.”
The release adds that an OWI crash occurs once every two hours in Wisconsin.
