WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Many Central Wisconsin communities have extended their snow emergencies as public works crews continue to pull double duty following significant snowfall.
The City of Wausau has extended its emergency through 6:00 AM Tuesday. Mayor Doug Diny says crews have made progress and hope to have at least one lane open on all streets by later today. He adds that once streets have become significantly clear, they will start to focus on snow removal, especially in areas where the sidewalks have been plowed over.
In Stevens Point, a snow emergency remains in effect through 6:00 PM Monday. Tonight’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting has also been postponed.
Mayor Mike Wiza also reminded all residents to clear all house vents for appliances like their furnace and dryer, and clear fire hydrants as soon as they can. We’re all experiencing the same challenges, but we’ll see spring soon enough,” added Wiza.
Marshfield has extended its snow emergency through midnight Wednesday, saying the added time will allow crews to finish plowing and snow removal.
