MADISON, WI (WSAU) — More work will be done on Highway 29 west of Wausau this summer.
Governor Evers has approved a $17.4 million contract for a resurfacing project from County Road D near Owen to Wisconsin 13 near Abbotsford. Work is expected to begin on March 30th. The project will include:
- Repairing the existing concrete pavement on WIS 29 and the ramps at the County E interchange and then overlaying the roadway and ramps with asphalt pavement
- Overlaying the ramps at Cardinal Avenue east of Owen and Hi Line Avenue in Abbotsford with asphalt
- Replacing guardrail to meet current WisDOT standards
- Repairing the decks on the east- and westbound WIS 29 bridges over County D and the railroad tracks to the east and placing a thin bonded polymer overlay over them
- Cleaning and repairing culverts to improve drainage
- Repairing the median inlets near Owen adjacent to concrete barrier wall
- Completing minor grading of ditches
The road will be to traffic during the project, but drivers should expect single-lane closures during the workweek. All lanes should be open on the weekends.
Rock Road Construction of Janesville will serve as the primary contractor for the project.
