WESTON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A garage fire broke out early Tuesday morning in the Village of Weston, causing a roof collapse but no serious injuries.
The SAFER district was dispatched to Carter Avenue at approximately 4:13 a.m. March 25. Initial reports indicated the garage was fully involved in flames and all residents had evacuated the house.
Firefighters arrived to find the garage roof had collapsed with heavy fire throughout the structure. SAFER crews launched an aggressive fire attack that quickly knocked down the flames and extinguished the main fire area.
Crews spent the next two hours searching the structure to ensure no one was inside, checking for fire extension and overhauling the burned area to prevent rekindling. One civilian was treated on scene for respiratory distress but did not need transport to the hospital.
