WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Children’s Imaginarium in downtown Wausau has been awarded a $50,000 grant to bolster its STEM programming.
The organization is one of 25 winning applicants in the latest round of T-Mobile’s Hometown Grant program, which aims to provide communities with fewer than 50,000 residents with funding to boost quality-of-life amenities.
Wausau’s grant will help implement new science, technology, engineering, and math programs “designed to connect young learners to real-world career pathways and create a program that fosters early awareness, sparks curiosity, builds foundational skills, inspires the next generation and strengthens the future workforce,” according to T-Mobile.
Wausau was one of two communities that scored funding in this round of grants. Manitowoc also had a successful application for improvements at Red Arrow Park and a nearby beach along Lake Michigan.
A check presentation is scheduled for 4:00 PM at the Children’s Imaginarium, located at 195 N 2nd Street.
The Hometown Grant program has awarded more than $21 million to 475 communities in nearly every state and Puerto Rico. Wisconsin has won $640,000 of that funding for projects in 15 communities.
