RINGLE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Governor Tony Evers toured the Marathon County Solid Waste Facility to hear about its work to combat PFAS contamination.
Evers’ visit to the county follows the signing of two bipartisan bills into law that will release funding for testing and remediation efforts.
“This whole issue of PFAS just doesn’t go away because of what we did yesterday, it is going to be going forward also,” Evers said.
The bills will release more than $125 million to combat PFAS. 2025 Wisconsin Act 200 will focus on funding for remediation and testing, while 2025 Wisconsin Act 201 will allocate funds for new programs and grant opportunities.
