STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Flooding on the Wisconsin River has closed a portion of the Green Circle Trail and Iverson Park in Stevens Point.
City Leaders say the West Side Loop of the Green Circle Trail is closed to all traffic due to flooding. Additionally, Iverson Park has been closed to vehicle traffic with barricades at each entrance.
As of Wednesday afternoon, no city streets are closed. Though residents are encouraged to be aware of the potential for flooding, especially in low-lying or flood-prone neighborhoods.
Water levels at the McDill dam are about six inches above normal, but the structure is holding.
The Green Circle Trail in Iverson Park remains open to bicycle and foot traffic, though users should remain aware of their surroundings.
Emergency managers are monitoring the situation, activating a Partial Emergency Operations Center.
City leaders have also announced free wood chips for residents at the Yard Waste Site from branches collected following the recent ice storm. Those are available for pickup at 100 6th Avenue during regular hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Residents will need to provide their own buckets or bags for haulaway.
