WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The Packers Tailgate Tour visited Wisconsin Rapids on Friday.
Fans at the Opportunity Development Center greeted the green and gold tour bus carrying current Packers stars Edgerrin Cooper and Evan Williams, as well as former players James Jones, Randall Cobb, Desmond Bishop, and Brandon Jackson.
After the Opportunity Development Center, the tour headed to Rooted in Red for a fundraiser benefiting the Hannah Center.
“It’s been great just seeing Packer fans, friends and family throughout every stop and understanding the impact we have on them, but also the impact they have on us,” Brandon Jackson said.
Fans got to ask each player some questions and bid on valuable items during the auction. For the players, the experience remains special whether they’re veterans of the tour or first-timers.
“It’s been an amazing experience you know, meeting new people, letting them ask questions that they probably would never get to ask,” Edgerrin Cooper said. “It’s great to hear other people’s side of the story, make an impact, seeing their kids and the smiles on their faces, I love the feeling of it.”
Former Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb said the tour stands out among NFL organizations.
“We were talking about it on the bus, there is no other organization that does anything like this rare,” Cobb said. “I think the biggest piece is being able to raise awareness and support for some of the local charities and being able to help out people in need.”
