Cory Wille
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A Grand Rapids man was convicted of second degree sexual assault of a child and incest following a two-day trial that concluded April 16.
A Portage County jury found Cory Wille, 46, guilty on both counts after deliberating for about 45 minutes.
Wille faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole because he has been convicted of child sex offenses on two earlier occasions. Sentencing is set for May 21.
Wille was arrested in January 2025 and held at the Portage County Jail while the case was pending. He was held without bond after the state pursued denial of pretrial release under a special statute for serious violent crimes.
The state established at a pretrial hearing that conditions of release would not adequately protect members of the community from serious bodily harm or prevent the intimidation of witnesses.
Following the convictions, the judge ordered Wille remanded to the custody of the Portage County Sheriff’s Office pending sentencing.
