MEXICO CITY, May 1 (Reuters) – Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has tapped agronomist Columba Jasmin Lopez to be the country’s next minister of agriculture and rural development, replacing current minister Julio Berdegue, her government said on Friday.
“Her appointment represents the arrival of the first woman to lead Mexican agricultural policy,” the agriculture ministry said in a statement.
