MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers used timely hitting to score a 7-1 win over San Diego on Thursday.
Andrew Vaughn, Luis Rengifo, and Garrett Mitchell each recorded two hits. Mitchell led the way with two doubles, while Rengifo recorded 3 RBI.
Vaughn’s day also included an RBI walk in the first inning. Brice Turange and Gary Sanchez recorded back-to-back RBI doubles in the second.
Kyle Harrison pitched five effective innings, scattering five hits and striking out seven. DL Hall and Grant Anderson followed, each pitching a scoreless inning. Brian Fitzpatrick handled the final two frames, allowing one hit and an unearned run.
The win polishes off a 5-1 homestand for the Crew, which included a three-game sweep of the Yankees. They’ll head west on Interstate 94 to take on the Minnesota Twins this weekend. Game one of the series is Friday at 6:10 PM, one hour earlier than previously scheduled due to a Minnesota Timberwolves playoff game at nearby Target Center. Pregame coverage will begin at 5:35 on WSAU.
