MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Badgers were not about to play into a weekend of ranked upsets, pounding the Illinois Fighting Illini 48-3 on Homecoming weekend.
A 31-yard field goal in the first quarter was all that Illinois would put on the board. The vaunted Badger defense intercepted QB Jeff George, Jr. four times and allowed five completed passes.
Offensively, Wisconsin RB Corey Clement put in another big day of work with 123 yards on the ground and three TDs, and RB Dare Ogunboalwe had 103 yards himself. Both Badger QBs, Alex Hornibrook and Bart Houston, had a touchdown pass on the day. Hornibrook took the majority of the offensive snaps.
Wisconsin continues to be in the driver’s seat of their own destiny. Wins at Purdue on November 19th and at home against the Minnesota Golden Gophers will guarantee them a shot at the Big Ten Championship.
