No, it's not Donald Trump. Trump is the symptom. Mitch McConnell is the disease and it's close to being terminal.
It's not the arrogance and smugness he displays as he destroys the norms of government. It's not the enormous corruption that gets uncovered everyday. And it's not even the lying he does every day on the Senate floor including the so-called oath he took to be an impartial juror in the impeachment trial after he publicly said he wouldn't be that at all. What bothers me the most is he does all these things in the open, knowing that the members of the Trump cult won't care and will actually applaud.
McConnell is an elected Senator from the state of Kentucky. Its hard to imagine that the constituents of the Commonwealth know how badly they are being served. Kentucky is a mess. One of the worst states by any measure you care to make. And what's McConnell doing about that? Lining his pockets from special interest money that has made him a multi-millionaire while he sells the country down the river. How you ask? One important way is taking money from the foreign manufacturer of voting machines while also fighting any legislation dealing with protecting our elections from manipulation and fraud. But then we all know who benefits from that. He has stacked the federal bench with partisan judges, many of whom aren't' even qualified according to the National Bar Association and other professional legal organizations. And of course did not allow a qualified candidate like Merrick Garland to even get a vote for the Supreme Court. He has continued his mantra from the Obama administration to not allow any legislation that has a hint of Democratic support to move forward. So 400 bills passed by the House…many with bi-partisan support..sit in the Senate where he will not even allow votes on them. This is a senator that is not only refusing to do his job, he is actively working on measures that are detrimental to the United States which violates his oath of office every day. And the damming part is he doesn't care. He, along with folks like Bill Barr, Mike Pompeo, Lindsay Graham and others seem to think that history will forget about their malfeasance and if it doesn't, who cares, they will be dead. But the damage they are doing now, will take generations to fix, if its not too late already.
Hey Ron Johnson..I know you're not up for re-election, but maybe you'd like to do whats right just once in your sorry political career. Maybe read the future for Republican Senators from Rick Wilson…
1/ I'll summarize this for the slow learners in the Senate one last time. Your protestations of independence, integrity, and honor will mean nothing to the voters this Fall. Nothing. You're going to moo and walk into the chute like cattle, terrified of Trump and Mitch. 2/ So when you're underwater in the polls, drowning in public anger at becoming accessories to Trump's coverup, here's a handy list of what went wrong. Clip-and-save, because you'll need it later. 3/ WHAT WENT WRONG, A PARTIAL LIST:
A. The facts of Ukraine will never, ever get better for Trump. You know this.
B. Truth outs. Bolton's book hits. Documents leak. More people come forth.
C. *TRUMP* admits it. You know he will.
D. The polls are not going your way.
4/ D (cont). Two-thirds of the American people want to see evidence and witnesses. Support for impeachment is steady.
E. The McConnell strategy looks great in the short term as a DC-clever-process story in a few months looks like a massive coverup.
5/ F. The locked-room, one-camera, dead-of-night game YOU voted for looks more and more like the work of co-conspirators, not judges.
G. Trump won't help you later. His loyalty is to himself. If you're in trouble *even for helping him* you're dead meat.
6/ H. Even if he *does* help you, does it *help* you? Trump rally fever plays only to the reddest red audiences. You know, like Maine and AZ…oh. Wait.
I. Mitch only has so much money to spread around. Sure, in January he's saying, “I got you” but does he have *enough*?
7/ J. Even *Mitch* will flip if the majority is in danger, and how are you gonna walk that back? You won't get a second chance to be strong and do the right thing. You won't get another moment to show you give a damn about something bigger than Trump's rage.
8/ K. Voters hate corruption (cf, 1974, 1980, 1994, 2006) as just a few examples in recent memory) and they hate its enablers more. It reinforces their existing feelings about politics and politicians.
L. Trump gets passes you never, ever will.
9/ M. “I voted against witnesses and evidence and covered up Trump's crimes of obstruction, lying, and abuse of power so he wouldn't tweet mean things about me.” is a shit political obituary. So is, “I didn't want a primary.”
10/ N. Everything Trump Touches Dies.
Proceed accordingly.
“I guess what bothers me most about the impeachment proceedings is that the Republican Senators KNOW what Trump did was wrong, but they won’t admit it. They KNOW this is a sham impeachment, but won’t admit it. The underlying reality of what we’re watching is absolutely chilling.”-Charles Blow
“Democracy, as we once thought of it, as a system in which no man is above the law, of co-equal branches of government, of lawmakers who honored their oaths to the Constitution, of lawmakers who even understood the Constitution and were committed to its ideals, is dead in America.”-David Rothkopf
“@senatemajldr is trying to protect, mask and contain #Republican senators who might feel they need to vote for witnesses by burying a ban on such votes in his initial rules. Clever and utterly corrupt.”-Howard Fineman
“All this talk about “history will judge you” and being “on the wrong side of history” does not carry any weight with these corrupt folks. They are either beyond shame, convinced that integrity is for suckers, or they believe they will be the “winners” who will write history.”-Joan Osborne
“Dems’ biggest mistake is continuing to think Republicans will act honorably. They won’t. And haven’t in a long time. We need to expect f*ckery at all times. And act accordingly.
#ShutThemDown#VoteBlue#ExpectGOPF*ckery”
“During more than 33 years in public service, I never heard a government lawyer so misrepresent the facts & deceive the American public as WH Counsel Pat Cipollone just did in the Senate impeachment trial. Further evidence of the contagion of Mr. Trump’s dishonesty & corruption.”-John Brennan

“Sekulow and Cipollone are not actually bothering with this trial: They're speaking directly to Fox Nation and creating talking points, knowing their audience is too stupid and too partisan to know (or care) how much of it is a lie.”-Tom Nichols
“For the umpteenth time – why won't a single Republican Senator break away and show an iota of integrity, courage and patriotism? How do Portman, Toomey, Lankford, Sasse, Alexander, Burr, Thune, Lee, Collins, et al sleep at night? How could 53 people all be compromised/complicit?”-Larry Mark
Alright….it can't all be despair…I found this in a You Tube dive yesterday…put this on and watch how an hour will slip away with a smile on your face.
