MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WDLB) — The city of Marshfield could be getting a new hotel near the Marshfield Clinic campus.
WDLB Radio reports the city’s Joint Review Board heard the details of a proposal to create a tax increment district at the site of the old Knights of Columbus Hall to help kick-start the project.
According to the JRB, the city would prepare the site by knocking down the KC hall and preparing the site for construction. That could also involve the improvement of street infrastructure in the area. Under a list of estimated project costs leading up to the development, the city could be spending up to $2,436,503 for street improvements, developer incentives, and financing.
That money would be paid back over time through property taxes on the development over a 20 year period through 2040.
The developer for the project and hotel brand was not revealed during Monday’s meeting. The proposal is scheduled for a public hearing in front of the city’s Plan Commission on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
