MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — One of the first holiday parades of the season hits the streets of downtown Marshfield Thursday evening.
Main Street Marshfield executive director Angie Eloranta says the parade’s becoming a central Wiscosnin tradition. “This is actually our 17th year doing the holiday parade, and we have 42 floats that are entered. It starts at 6:30, and it kicks off right on Second Street heading down Central all the way down to 14th Street.”
The fun continues after the parade, according to Eloranta. “At the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Center, we’ll have a post-holiday parade celebration with Santa. and there’ll be hot cocoa, there’ll be cookies, there’ll be carolers, and fun activities happening. We just encourage everyone to come. It’s a completely free community event, and we’d just really want to invite all the community members down to celebrate for the Holiday Season.”
Because of the holiday parade, there’ll be some road closures in downtown Marshfield Thursday starting just after 5:00. According to Eloranta, “Some of the roads will be closed because we will be coming down Central with all the floats. So, from 5:30 until the parade’s done Central Avenue will be closed heading from Second down to 14th Street.”
