PORT EDWARDS, WI (WSAU-WAOW) The Port Edwards village board approved a settlement agreement with its police chief unanimously Tuesday evening. Police Chief Jennifer Iverson will resign November 18, once the settlement is finalized by the village police and fire commission.
Iverson was reportedly the subject of a misconduct investigation. As part of the agreement, Port Edwards will withdraw the formal charges and the hearing will not take place.
“The idea was… that somehow we get out of this mutually in a beneficial manner without having a lot of fanfare and over-hype and publicity that was unnecessary,” Dana Duncan, the Port Edwards Village Vice President told WAOW-TV.
The police and fire commission will meet Thursday to approve the agreement.
In 2016 there were complaints over the hiring of Chief Iverson and officer Thomas Roszak. The two had previously worked together at the police department in Greenfield, Wisconsin. While at Greenfield, Roszak injured a woman while shoving her into a cell. Surveillance video showed the incident.
Iverson hired Roszak when she was named chief. The village asked Roszak to resign that June.
