RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — The Samoset Council is hosting their Fall Jamboree Event this weekend at the Hodag Festival Grounds.
The event that’s held every 3 to 5 years features multiple events for the 1500 scouts in attendance and the public alike. Being one of the only Samoset Council Boy Scout events open to the public, Leanne Holzem the Communications and Special Events Executive, says its a perfect time for those interested in scouting to see what it’s like. “There are families who may be a little skeptical on what scouting’s going to be like. Or if they have a daughter who might be interested in Cub Scouting but just wants to make sure that its right for their child. This would be the opportunity to go and see and experience exactly what being a scout is all about.”
She explains that most activities on Saturday the 13th like the STEM events, paintball, archery, and the evening concert are available to the public. But there are certain things not included with the admission that day. “All of the activities would be available as well as the performance by HYDE. However, lunch would not be included and our limited edition Jamboree patch would not be included as well.” Don’t worry if you want to grab lunch there will be plenty of vendors to choose from.
As the fall jamboree is only held every couple of years, no two jamboree’s are alike. Holzem describes it as a once in a lifetime experience. “All of the events that happen on this particular weekend will not be the same in the next three to five years. So this is really a lifetime opportunity. It’s once in a lifetime.”
The Jamboree will be held from October 12th through the 14th. More information can be found at the council’s website www.samoset.org or by calling the Council’s office at 715-355-1450.
