MILWAUKEE, Wi (MetroSource-WSAU) The Brewers led 6-1 after seven innings and held on to edge the Dodgers 6-5 in their National League Championship Series opener in Milwaukee.
Brandon Woodruff struck out four across two innings of scoreless relief for the win. Woodruff ignited the Brewers offense with his first big league homer in the third inning. Jesus Aguilar also went deep for Milwaukee.
Clayton Kershaw gave up five runs over three innings to take the loss for L.A. The Dodgers rallied for three runs in the eighth and another in the ninth before the rally fell short. Manny Machado homered and had three RBI in defeat.
