MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deceased baby boy found in the trunk of a car in the Marshfield Medical Center parking lot.
According to Sheriff Shawn Becker, the staff at Marshfield Medical Center reported a missing newborn on Saturday, April 6th. After searching the grounds, officers found a vehicle belonging to the man who was said to be the father of the child. After searching the vehicle, they found the boy wrapped in a towel and tied in a plastic bag in the trunk of the car.
Life-saving measures were administered in the hospital, and the boy was momentarily revived but later pronounced dead from his injuries.
Upon further investigation, officers determined that the child was born in a private home in the Village of Miladore early Saturday morning, but was not taken to a medical center following the birth.
The mother and father were later identified as 22-year-old Marylinn Feher and 19-year-old Alan Rice, both of Miladore. Charges of child neglect causing death have been forwarded against the couple, with a charge of homicide also recommended for the mother.
The investigation into the incident remains open. No further information has been released.
