WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A man accused of sexually assaulting a young teen will stand trial.
Randal Ivey, 37 of Wausau is facing charges of 1st Degree Sexual Assault with a person under the age of 13 according to online court records. At Ivey’s preliminary hearing Judge Greg Huber bound Ivey over for trial as there was probable cause to move forward.
The charges stem from multiple incidents of abuse from January 2018 to July 2018. As stated in the criminal complaint police launched an investigation into Ivey in July when a Wausau woman reported her daughter had been sexually assaulted.
Ivey and the girl met on social media app Snapchat in early January. They soon began communicating several times a day. Two weeks after they first communicated Ivey allegedly assaulted the girl at her home while her parents were away. The second assault happened months later.
Ivey has previously been convicted of cocaine trafficking, three OWI’s, battery, and bail jumping. He is being held on a $5,000 cash bond at the Marathon County Jail. An arraignment hearing is set for February 15th.
