MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — Today is the last day on the job for 129 workers at Marshfield-based mail order giant ‘Figi’s Inc.’ and another 147 employees will be let go by March.
That’s according to ‘Mason Companies, Inc.’ who obtained Figi’s in 2013, but said that while the company has been on the sale block no takers have come forward to purchase the company.
Another 125 employees in the company’s call center, and those employed in the conpany’s warehouse will apparently be keeping their jobs for now.
All terminated company employees will be receiving 60 days of wages and benefits, along with assistance in finding new employment.
The direct-to-consumer company was founded in 1944 by John Figi, and ‘Figi’s Gifts in Good Taste®’ was widely known for the mail order sale of cheese, meat, and other specialty food products, and did much of it’s business over the holiday season.
