MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — It was the official ribbon cutting on Tuesday for a multi-million dollar expansion of the Marshfield Clinic Health System YMCA, marking the completion of a years-long project.
Mayor Bob McManus said the state-of-the-art facility is a tribute to a community that works together towards a dream. “It’s so exciting to be here. I remember when this was just a vision, and many of you had this great vision. What’s so great is what people with vision can do.”
McManus said the $15.6-million dollar project first broke ground back in August of 2107 and was completed in phases. “I remember just a couple years ago we were out here at the ground breaking. Many of the people with the vision had the shovels. And then we opened up the Youth Center a while ago. And now today, this is a very exciting day for Marshfield. It’s a very exciting day to be here.”
The new facility includes the Everett & Dolores Roehl Youth Center, a new fitness center, childcare facilities, and the new 20,000 square-foot Roehl Fieldhouse which includes three full-size basketball courts and enough room to play indoor soccer.
Also at the all new YMCA: a healthy living center, a strength training center, a walking/running track, a multi-generational community room, a welcome center, and a member lounge.
The multi-million dollar facility was paid for with donations collected during a two year long fundraising campaign, and the public is encouraged to stop by and get a tour of the new facility.
