WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) A man who now lives in the Fox Valley is accused of torturing a 14-year-old girl with a shock collar.
Sanjaya Senanayake, a former Wausau resident who now lives in DePere, was charged Wednesday with false imprisonment, child abuse, and mistreatment of an animal. A criminal complaint says he used the collar, intended for a dog, on a female relative from Schofield.
During a police interview the girl said Senanayake cut her with nail clippers, burned her with a metal spoon that had been in boiling water, and punched her repeatedly. She said the dog collar was put on its highest setting and fastened around her neck.
The girl says she was drugged on multiple occasions.
Senanayake is also charged with abusing his finances two dogs.
He will appear at a preliminary hearing in Marathon County court on August 1st. If convicted, he faces up to 12 years in jail.
