STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) Some residents in Portage County rode out the storms on Friday night. Little did they know the real storm would hit Saturday morning.
“10 or 10:30 this morning all the sudden it got dark, and then all of the sudden the trees started falling and I’m like oh my god we are down in the lower level because you never know whats going to happen,” Joe Pavelski of Portage County told WAOW-TV.
Heavy rain, high winds, thunder and lightning throughout Portage County taking down trees and power lines.
“It made a real thundering noise so it was pretty, a little scary because I have a huge tree in the backyard that fell between my workshop and the house, had that tree hit the house it would’ve taken the whole back bedroom off,” said Pavelski.
After the storm passed and the residents saw the damage. Residents said it will take them a couple of days to clean it all up.
However Pavelski wasn’t the only one who woke up to damage from Saturday morning’s storm. Tony Kizewski of Portage County woke up to a large tree laying on top of his garage. But despite the damage to his garage, Kizewski said, “I’m glad it didn’t reach the house.”
Both Tony and Joe said while there is a lot to clean up, they’re happy no one was hurt.
