RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — A Northwoods man accused of sexually assaulting a two-year-old boy in 2013 has had a five-day jury trial scheduled for the charges.
Brandon Darnick will face an Oneida County jury from December 2nd through the 6th for first-degree sexual assault including sexual contact with a person under the age of 13.
Charges in the case stem from a sexual assault kit that was left untested for over four years. A nurse collected the data after the boy complained of pain from a “doctor” who “put his belly up his butt.”
Darnick has pled not guilty to the charges.
The kit was shelved and nurses had previously said the child’s complaints were difficult to understand. Additionally, the nurse found no signs of injury or abuse.
Darnick admitted to being alone with the boy but claims he was set up by the boy’s mother.
