WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin Public Service crews continue to repair electric outages across Wisconsin.
As of 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, WPS has restored power to over 45,000 customers. 3,500 customers are still without power in Tomahawk, Merrill, and Wausau. Other areas impacted include Green Bay and Minocqua with wind gusts of over 50 mph.
WPS crews have seen significant damage while working on repairs on Wednesday. Crews are working as quickly as possible to fix broken utility poles, downed power lines, and downed trees. All crews are working on restoration efforts and will continue to work around the clock.
WPS is closely monitoring weather conditions to address any additional outages over the next week. Those who encounter a downed power line are urged to stay at least 25 feet away and report issues to WPS or local law enforcement agencies.
