NEKOOSA, WI (WSAU) — Names of those involved in a fatal work zone crash near Nekoosa have been released.
Officers say 45-year-old Jason Dahms of Custer was eastbound on Highway 173 in a Peterbilt box truck when he crossed over into the westbound lane to go around a work zone.
That’s when he was hit head-on by a westbound Kenworth dump truck driven by 57-year-old Edward A Singstock of Wisconsin Rapids.
Both men were the only occupants of their vehicles and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash shut down State Highway 173 for most of Wednesday while crews investigated the incident. Ten different agencies responded to the crash from Nekoosa, Wisconsin Rapids, and Port Edwards.
The investigation into the crash continues.
