STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) An ex-boyfriend of Krista Sypher testified in her husband’s murder trial on Tuesday.
Corey Kitowski told the jury that both Krista and Jason Sypher were unfaithful during their marriage. While on the stand, Kitowski, said they ended their relationship around the time she went missing.
Kitowski said that Krista described his home as her “safe place.” He added Krista spoke of physical abuse she suffered from Jason.
Kitowski also mentioned a conversation he had with Krista shortly before she went missing.“ She said ‘If I ever go missing you better investigate him,’” Kitowski said. “‘Because I’m either going to be in a swamp or buried on a pipeline somewhere.’”
Kitowski added that his relationship with Krista ended on March 13, but they still communicated afterward. After several attempts over a week’s time to reach Krista , Kitowski said he found out from Jason Sypher that she was missing. “He didn’t know where she was … and we were both thinking that maybe she just took off,” Kitowski said. “We didn’t know because we hadn’t heard from her.”
Kitowski said Jason never questioned him about Krista’s whereabouts, but that Jason did tell him that he thought Krista ran off with $30,000 and that he seemed to be more concerned with Krista’s disappearance than Jason was.
