MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — It’ll be the long-awaited ribbon-cutting for the new Welcome Center and Cougar Exhibit at the Wildwood Park and Zoo in Marshfield at 1:00 Friday afternoon.
That’s according to Parks and Rec. Director Justin Casperson, who says the new “Welcome Center’ features exhibits on small creatures like reptiles, insects, and honey bees, and there’s also some brand-new ADA compliant restrooms. And for the kids, there’s a hi-tech interactive exhibit about the ‘life-cycle’ of groundwater.
Another big new attraction for the zoo being unveiled Friday is the expansive, natural-habitat, cougar exhibit. Casperson says, “The exhibit itself is just wonderful! The cougars are going from a 600-foot exhibit to a 6,000-square-foot exhibit!”
Those new exhibits have been under construction since last June, and Casperson says the new additions are being funded in large-part through generous donations from around the community. “There’s been wonderful, wonderful donations by all people in the community.”
