STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A plea deal appears likely for a Portage County man who hid from authorities for three years while facing child pornography charges.
Jeremiah Button, the man who lived in a makeshift bunker along the ice age trail near the Marathon and Portage county line, has had a plea hearing scheduled in Portage County court just before his trial was set to begin next Wednesday.
Court records show that plea hearing is set for Friday at 1:30.
Earlier this week the state added nine new charges of possession of child pornography to other charges of first-degree sexual assault of a child and repeated sexual assault of the same child.
Button spent nearly three years hiding out in the bunker before authorities caught up to him.
