MOSINEE, WI (WSAU) — A name floated to run for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District has decided not to run.
On Thursday night Mosinee Mayor Brent Jacobson emailed a statement to the media regarding his interest in running for the 7th Congressional Seat vacated by Sean Duffy’s resignation. In the statement, Jacobson announced that he would not run for the seat.
Jacobson emphasizes in his statement that after much consideration he decided not to run so there wouldn’t be a Republican primary before the special election. Instead, Jacobson will focus on serving his constituents in Mosinee as Mayor.
Currently, State Senator Tom Tiffany is the only declared candidate for the seat.
