MINOCQUA, WI (WSAU-WXPR) Two women from Marathon, Wisconsin are safe after being reported missing Saturday while canoeing on the Tomahawk River.
Minocqua Police Chief Jaeger reports Katelynn Hughes, 25, and Charlotte Hughes, 19, left from a residence at approximately 3:30pm heading south on the Tomahawk River towards the Willow Flowage. By 9:00pm the women had not returned as expected.
The canoists were found approximately 1:00am in a cabin on Cedar Falls fire lane along the Tomahawk River. After being checked out by medical personnel, both were reported as OK.
Eight agencies along with Minocqua Police were involved in the search. Jaeger thanked all the extra help they received.
