WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Wausau’s 19 playgrounds within City Parks have reopened. However WAOW TV is reporting that the parks will not be sanitized and the Wausau/Marathon County Park & Rec Department is making it clear that you can use the playgrounds at your own risk.
“Some people will take their children to playgrounds just like they’ll go to restaurants, and some people will not because the virus is still out there and it’s still active,” said City and County Parks, Recreation, and Forestry director Jamie Polley.
New signs have been posted at each of the city parks with playgrounds to “use at your own risk” because recommendations from health officials can’t be enforced.
This opening applies only to city parks. Facilitites on school grounds are still closed per direction from the Wausau School District.
