TOWN OF KING (WSAU) – There were two drownings in Central Wisconsin over the weekend.
The first incident involved a canoe that capsized on Lake Alice in the Town of King. The boater was reported missing around 1:30am. The body was discovered by the Lincoln County Dive Team later that morning. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Department and Tomahawk Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
The man’s name hasn’t been released.
The second incident happened in the Wolf River near the Shawano Street Bridge in New London.
Police were called around 2pm after a report that a man had fallen into the water.
Several onlookers were able to get him back to shore, but life-saving efforts were unsuccessful. The 71-year-old victim’s name hasn’t been released.
